I was very proud of Kaylee today! She had to get a tetanus shot to start 8th grade so I made her an appointment and today was doomsday. Anyone who knows Kaylee knows that shots and her do not get along. The previous times were nothing short from spectacular and very entertaining to those who witness the event (even the nurses). With this said I refuse to allow Lincoln to be in the room with her on shot day. I had him with me today so she had to go in alone. She warned the nurse that she hated shots and she asked her not to tell her when she was going to stick her. Kaylee looked away and braced herself for the torture. The nurse says "your done" and Kaylee had no idea she started. She thought the stick was just her pinching her skin. Either that nurse was awesome or Kaylee is growing up. My guess it is a little of both.
My name is Rachel Redd, I am a wife and mother to two pretty awesome kids. We are constantly busy and I feel like time is flying by and I don’t want to forget any of this. This blog is going to be my way to “jot” down all of my incREDDible experiences that I have with my family. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!

Groundhogs, Fox and Bears Oh My
As if all the wildlife living in my yard isn't enough there could now be a BEAR!!
As I was scrolling though news articles today I see a headline that stands out, 'Bear spotted in De Soto'. My first thought is that this has to be in the rule areas of De Soto and no where near town, you can only imagine my shock with it was found on BOYD St! Apparently it was spotted walking through Walmart and Sonic parking lot and then down Boyd. Regardless the bear being a mile away from my house was way too close. I about fell out of my chair at work knowing that Lincoln would be getting off the bus in a matter of hours and would instantly become a snack for this bear when he took off running. After several attempts to trap the bear including a cage with donuts the bear was never caught. It hung around for about a week and then the police and Conservation club trailed it leaving town so they let him be. The public however in this week became more annoying than knowing a bear was loose. It is illegal to shoot black bears at this time so if you saw it you could not kill it. Everyone kept saying to just leave it alone and walk away and that it was not that big of a deal. I am pretty sure that if someone saw a black bear walking down the street while unloading groceries with the 5 year old and 13 year old standing there they would not be saying it is not a big deal. I was not really that scared of seeing it but I sure was scared the kids would and that they wouldn't react the right way.

As the news spread the Facebook post got more and more entertaining!
Here is another..
and the best ever...
This is what people would really do when if the saw the bear!!
Here is a picture that Kaylee took of the fox couple hanging out in our yard as well. Not long after this picture was taken a baby appeared too.

Car Cruise
Daddy and Kaylee were gone today so it was just me and Lincoln. We spent most of the day at home so once 5pm came around I was up for about anything that would entertain a 5 year old boy. I then remembered that De Soto's annual car cruise was going to start. Of course when mentioned to Lincoln he was more than ready to walk down and watch it. Since it looked like rain we decided to drive down to the Giggle Box so that we could enjoy some candy and ice cream while we watched the cruise. All types of cars joined the cruise but most are old classic cars. Since I do not really know much about cars it was interesting trying to explain to Linc why some were there. You had Mustangs, Camaros, and many many trucks! Then you had the people that were accidentally stuck in the cruise while trying to get to there next destination. I spent most of my time answering this series of questions "Is that an old car? Or do they just think their car is cool? Or are they just here by accident?". It got old after awhile but I loved spending time with him. It is amazing how well behaved he is and how grown up he seems when you get one on one time with him.

Thats my school!
We were lucky enough to find a pre-school for Lincoln that he loved. He has always yelled "that's my school" as we pass it but now those words spark a little sadness. He will be moving on to kindergarten this fall so he is no longer attending Small Wonders, or as he calls it Little Wonders.
Now he says, "Thats my old school"!

Rodeo!
Matt and I decided to take the kiddos to the Hillsboro Rodeo this year. It rained all day but the weather ended up being really great. We usually do not go because it is so hot so we took advantage of the cooler weather.
I was not sure how much Lincoln would like it but it was a huge hit.
